Our Promise
We recognise that taking on a new feline boss is a huge emotional commitment, and in an ideal world they would come with a guarantee. Unfortunately life is just not like that, and with a live animal there can never be any real guarantees.
However, before you adopt from us we do make you this promise.
The Catitude Rescue Promise
The last thing any rescue organisation wants to do is rehome a cat that has a loving family who are desperate to get them back. Before we put any cat up for adoption therefore, we will make every reasonable attempt to reunite them.
From 10 June 2024 it has been a legal requirement that all cats are microchipped and registered by the age of 20 weeks old. Every cat or kitten that comes into our care is checked throughly for a working microchip.
If we find a working chip, we will check their registration on the national database, and then try to contact their family (unless kitty is being surrendered by that family).
Should there be no chip or it proves impossible to contact their family through the database, we will try other methods to reunite them e.g. website and social media posts, and informing local vets.
Only after a minimum of two weeks unsuccessful searching, or in the meantime receiving surrender authorisation from their registered family, will we put kitty up for adoption.
Neutering will be done before a cat leaves our care. We will not allow a cat to leave our care unneutered. The cost of neutering is included in our adoption package.
*The exception to this is young kittens who can go to their new forever home before neutering, as they can only be neutered from 12 weeks or 1kg, whichever comes first. We have a neutering scheme within our adoption package which ensures that all kittens are neutered when of age.
Each cat or kitten is given what we like to describe as "a Feline MOT" by our lovely vets.
They check their overall condition and:
- examine their ears and eyes
- inspect their teeth and gums
- listen to their heart and breathing
- feel for abnormalities in their kidneys and other areas.
In addition, unless we know kitty's full background and are sure they've kept up with their vaccinations, they will be tested for FIV and FeLV.
Like a car's MOT this doesn't guarantee something can't go wrong later, but it does at least provide some peace of mind before you adopt.
All kittens, and any adult cat with no vaccination record, will be given at least the first of their core vaccinations as part of their adoption package before they leave our care.
- FELV (Feline Leukaemia)
- Tricat - three strains of cat flu
If they go to their forever home before receiving their required second vaccination booster 2-3 weeks later, their new family will recieve a vaccination card and will need to take them back to our approved vet by the date shown. If they are not given their second vaccination before that date the family will have to start the process again at their own cost.
From 10 June 2024 it has been a legal requirement that all cats are microchipped and registered by the age of 20 weeks old.
Every cat or kitten that comes into our care is checked throughly for a working microchip. If we can't find one, they will have a new chip inserted and we will register them to us.
Once a cat is ready to leave for their forever home and their adoption fee has been paid we will register the cat at their new address.

Could you be a cat's forever human?
If you think you might be able to offer a cat their forever home, please fill out the adoption form and one of the team will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you so much,
