Age of a Cat in Human Years

Cats mature really quickly in the first few months of life, then at around 2 years old it settles down to roughly 4 human years for each cat year. Bear this in mind if you are set on adopting a young kitten, as it won't stay tiny for very long. By the time it's around 12-18 months, your tiny bundle of fluff will be a fully grown cat. 

It's important to remember that individual cats age at different rates, and some may show signs of aging earlier or later than these general guidelines. Also, while the cat age to human equivalent conversion is standard, individual classifications vary across sources, and are commonly simplified to:

Kittens (1 year and younger), Adults (2-10 years) and Seniors (11 years+).

For adoption purposes, a cat is a "kitten" until they are 1 year old, after which they are an "adult" cat.

After 12-18 months your kitten will be a fully grown cat.
