Donations
At Catitude we aim to give the best support to all the kittens and cats under our care. We have a wonderful network of volunteers who work tirelessly to help these gorgeous cats that need our help.
The reality however, is that lots of essentials cost money and without donations our work simply stops.
How to Donate
Here's just a few examples of our regular bills...
Vet bills
We are exceptionally lucky that, as a charity, our vets are prepared to give us a discount. However, even with that, basic care isn't especially cheap.
When cats come to us they go directly to the vets to get checked. Some cats are fine and don’t have any issues or problems...but they still require vaccinations, microchips, neutering and health check certificates, and flea and worming treatments.
Sadly others come into our care needing massive amounts of veterinary care. The might need a condition diagnosed, hospitalisation, surgery, dental work or ongoing medical care through our supported adoption.
No month is ever the same on costs, but £2000 is not remotely unusual and it can go much much higher depending on each cat's needs.
Medication
On top of initial veterinary costs we also have the ongoing care required by some cats. This could be for a short term course of treatment, but some may require medication for life.
Food
To ensure the best health care for their cats, we provide our foster families with good quality wet and dry food. In addition, some cats might need a special diet due to a medical issue or health condition.
Good food comes at a cost, so even with discount for bulk purchase each cat can happy chew through £30-£40 of food a month. Pregnant mummies and mummies with kittens that aren't yet weened need even more.
Litter
Cats and kittens in foster need to be kept indoors and have their own space, so we provide all the litter they will need. And since they have no option but to use their litter tray, they do tend to need quite a bit. Unfortunately prices for litter jumped markedly during the pandemic and haven't really ever come back down so each cat could easily use up £10-£15 worth a month.
Every donation makes a difference
Any donation you can afford will go towards saving a cat's life and changing it forever. Your donation doesn't have to be huge, but its effect for a cat in crisis is.
If you could donate the cost of a take away, the price of a lottery ticket or just that of a cup of coffee, it all adds up and lets us provide hope to abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens.
It takes a village to save a cat.
